Effects of Different Preservatives on Cut Flower of Luculia pinceana: A Novel Fragrant Ornamental Species

Luculia pinceana is a potential cut flower because of its long-term blooming inflorescences and charming fragrance. However, narrow distribution area unexplored wild status severely restrict applications, thus leading to the scientific research L. flowers. To our knowledge, there no available published information about postharvest fresh-keeping . During this study, flowers were tested using nine preservatives with different concentrations sucrose 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) evaluate effects. Through investigation analysis vase life, bud opening abortion rate, water balance, malonaldehyde (MDA) content, peroxidase (POD) activity, we selected identified best solution for The results suggested that preservative 1% 100 mg/L 8-HQ could significantly prolong life up 9 days compared control. This positively affects blooming, delays senescence, improves inhibits MDA accumulation, increases POD activity. Therefore, suitable Our study first report effects on flower. showed low-sugar-containing (1% sugar) can effectively improve ornamental quality fresh demonstrated requires low sugar insensitive microorganisms.
